This morning was cool and foggy when I dropped Jack off at the nanny’s house. Acorns are pelleting my house and leaves are starting to gather. Now that it’s afternoon as I type this, it’s warm and sunny. It’s the first day of fall and this is the best transition between seasons if you ask me.
Here’s a home that perfectly captures that warm-yet-fresh/cool-yet-inviting fall vibe. This is the work of Jersey Ice Cream Co., a design-build couple team that I’ve long admired. Their approach to design really inspires me—creating timeless spaces that are beautiful and well-crafted. This project in Long Island is a great example of how to add character to a new home so that it has a sense of history. From what I’ve read, this house is around 10 years old, but the materials used and plaster wall treatment had me fooled.
I’ve stared at these images so many times because it has so many features of my dream home: a skylit bathroom, the upright piano, the farmhouse table, to name a few. I love the textures, the cool colors paired with the warm wood, and the general simplicity and connectedness of each space.
