A Custom Mountain Home with a Monochromatic Palette

I stepped away from my job as a designer with Allard and Roberts Interior Design when Euna was born to stay at home with the kiddos. I’m missing my job today….and well, generally at any of those moments when both kids are crying and/or I’m cleaning up <insert mess here> for the third time in two hours. I am so proud of our company’s work, and a couple of weekends ago I got to see one of our finished projects during a Parade of Homes event. It was so fun to see it all come to life!

This is a house where I was tasked with all the drawings, so here you can see the design in 2D form.kitchen-elevation

Check out the stunning, shimmering backsplash tile. This custom tile had to be specified with a specific grout color to get this beautiful result. The countertops are quartz and the island featured waterfall sides for a sleek, sculptural look.

There were a few conversations about how the built-in bookcase should meet up with the stone fireplace surround; whether one surface should be deeper or shallower than the other. We felt it best that the two surfaces be on the same plane. Of course, that was the most difficult to execute, but that’s how we roll. Because it’s gotta look good.alanoff-16alanoff-37

The Master Bedroom also has a similar fireplace. The floating hearth is concrete, which I love.alanoff-5master-bedroom-elevationalanoff-38bath-elevation

One difference between the drawing and what was built was the window at the sit-down vanity. Either the size or where it was installed was a few inches from where we had it drawn so we ended up extending the counter surface into the window instead of having trim. This is an example of how little quirks like this actually make the design even better in the end. It turned out beautiful and we put in a pop-up outlet in the counter surface.
